Description
During my first solo gallery show in New York in 2012, I displayed this image as an 11×14 foot print on the ceiling of the event space at 379 Broome Street (no longer an event space). Beneath the image were four large bean bags where people could lie down and look up….straight up. People would lay there for several minutes and most thought it was the Rockefeller Center, but indeed it’s the Portlandia Sculpture on the Portland Building in Oregon.
I particularly like the budding trees and their trunks which remind me of blowing ink on a page with a straw as a kid. I visited this location several times to get the shadow of the reaching hand just right.
