Double Takes

These images are part of a series titled Double Takes. The unusual colors and sometimes inverted colors are a function of a digital double exposure where the camera and digital back are not properly synched to reset after an exposure. During fashion and beauty shoots a tempo for exposures is established between. This allows strobes to recharge and the model to move into a new pose.  With the equipment I worked with, this tempo was about two seconds.  At the peak of action when the lighting, action, and mood of the model were working perfectly I would see the perfect shot and inadvertently trigger the camera faster than the two second tempo. This caused the camera to crash, ruin the flow, and a double exposure I would call a double bang. Originally I thought to delete these images but in looking at them realized they are actually the most exciting gems of the shoot–merging two of the best images into an abstract version of beauty.
